KCRA-TV 3
Sacramento

Although Sacramento NBC affiliate KCRA-TV 3 never supported all-night movies the way local UHF rival KTXL-TV 40 did, they made up for it on Saturday nights in the late '60s and early '70s.

Bob Wilkins began his horror host career on KCRA-TV's late-Saturday night Seven Arts Theater in 1966, making him the likeliest contender for being the first local horror host in the northern California markets.

Wilkins left KCRA-TV shortly after the premiere of his Creature Features on San Francisco's KTVU 2, and the vacant Seven Arts slot was quickly filled with Charlie Chan films hosted by Sacramento lawyer Geoff Wong on Geoff Wong's Adventure Theater.

KCRA-TV also seems to have had a mid-60s afternoon movie hosted by local legend Harry Martin.

One of KCRA's most memorable regular shows wasn't a show at all, but their unusual sign-off clips.

And, of course, KCRA also had a local news department.
