UHF Nocturne correspondant Perry Martin was also there for the first Creature Features.

I remember spotting the Saturday night TV Guide listing for THE HORROR OF PARTY BEACH and tuned in out of mild curiosity -- and was delighted to discover Bob Wilkins hosting a new show here. Bob seemed genuinely excited to be appearing in the upscale San Francisco market, and his energy and enthusiasm were high.

If memory serves me, the first shows began with the familiar Bob Wilkins marching band music -- the same theme that heralded the host's KCRA and KTXL shows; the lights came up on Bob, seated in his rocking chair and smoking a cigar on a set simulating an old, cobweb-covered attic.

In the tradition of 7 Arts Theater, the first films Bob played on Creature Features were, by and large, pretty dismal. After THE HORROR OF PARTY BEACH came A JOLLY BAD FELLOW, VILLAGE OF THE GIANTS, HANDS OF A STRANGLER, KILLERS FROM SPACE, RING OF TERROR, THE VULTURE and THE CURSE OF THE LIVING CORPSE.

You guessed it! More Creature Features...

SON OF GODZILLA and GODZILLA'S REVENGE are available from Sony / Columbia Tristar -- and finally in anamorphic widescreen! The original Star Trak is available in 2-episode single DVDs, or spectacular full season box sets from Paramount ISLAND OF TERROR has been issued on R2/PAL and can be purchased in the USA from Xploited Cinema WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE? is available on DVD from Warner Video Bert I. Gordon's VILLAGE OF THE GIANTS is from MGM KILLERS FROM SPACE and RING OF TERROR have been issued by various grey-market labels, but the quality is downright awful on most.
